One of the most unique events of the Bear Paw Festival is the

Slippery Salmon Olympics!

Start Time  1:30 Saturday July 10th

Proceeds will go toward the support of the Chugiak-Eagle River Foundation Inc.

How it works is: sponsored relay teams (two people per team), negotiate an obstacle course while carrying a whole "slippery salmon" in one hand and a server's tray complete with a full glass of soda and the empty can in the other hand!

Teams are judged by their overall time, and time penalties are assessed if the drink spills below desig­nated marks on the glass.  Plus, don’t lose that empty can . . . it must be on the tray at the finish!  Two lanes of simultaneous action, hilarious gyrations and lots of fun!

All that’s needed is your team . . . there’s only room for 40 teams, so sign up now! Don’t forget to give your team a name! (If you would like to sponsor a team, but do not have runners available, call our office.  We have volunteers standing by to represent you at the SLIPPERY SALMON OLYMPICS!)

ENTRY FEE: $100 PER TEAM

LOCATION:   Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union parking lot at the Mainstage.

Each contestant receives an official ‘Slippery Salmon Olympics” T-shirt, a distinguished certificate of participation, and for the top two finishing teams, a special recognition plaque.
